saipua

I'm usually a lover of graphic, symmetrical floral arrangements, but Anna Bond has turned me on to these gorgeous eclectic flowers from Saipua. What a feast for the eyes!

broach bouquet update

Sweet Lisa from Studio Del Fiore wanted to make sure the broquet was appropriately credited- the picture from the original post, as well as the one above- is actually a creation of Fantasy Floral Designs in California, though SDF makes broach bouquets as well. Check out FF designs right here, and SDF creations right here. They are both beautiful!

I'm digging these 'broquets' (bouquets composed of brooches) discovered on Melodie's blog (by way of studiodelfiore)

sunday supper club

We had our supper club over last Sunday evening, for a change of pace (we usually get together on Saturdays). Though some were concerned that the mood would be dampened by a 'school night' gathering, it turned out to be a lovely way to start a week. Do you ever have Sunday get-togethers?

I fondly remember Sunday evenings (when I lived in NYC), with girlfriends, huddled around the TV watching the latest Sex and the City.

the best part

Sometimes I think the best part of a party (or at least one of the best parts) is the day after, when the house is clean, the dishes are done, the memories are good and fresh flowers are around (a novelty for us). Then again, if you had too much to drink the night before- the day after is definitely not the best part. Fortunately for me, I'm nursing Shirley Temples these days.

60-second centerpieces?

That headline caught my eye on Real Simple's website (I always forget about their great entertaining ideas, I don't know why!). Anything in bulk in a similar color palette can be stunning, and this carnation centerpiece proves the point. For more '60-second centerpieces', look here.

floral display

I love this floral display idea from Donna Hay. A single bloom partially submerged in a pretty glass jar is so simple, yet gorgeous!

nashville in bloom

I picked some flowers from our yard this morning, since the weather dipped from the high 70's yesterday, to the mid-50's today.I knew my pretty blooms would die with the cold weather slated for the rest of the week, so I decided to snip so I could enjoy them for at least a little bit. So much is in bloom- daffodils, forsythia, tulip magnolias, pear trees- it's all so lovely. Fresh flowers are such a mood lifter!

happy weekend

I couldn't resist. A huge bunch of tulips for $4.50 at Trader Joe's. Flowers are never that cheap in Nashville!
