reader question of the week #2

"I was wondering if you or your readers have any ideas for a cow-themed rather than farm-themed birthday party for girls and boys? My daughter will be turning 2 and is obsessed with cows, so I wanted to incorporate them as much as possible into the the theme. Thanks! -Susanne"

I love the purple cow poem - perhaps you could do something with that?

Well, definitely little cartons or bottles of milk as the "official" party drink - flavoured as well as plain. With waxed red and white paper straws for the classic retro effect.

And a cow-print cake (black and white, or brown and cream), maybe with a cow pasture fence around the bottom... what about presenting the cake on a piece of artifical grass?

And cookies in the shape of daisies and cowbells and red cow barns and glasses of milk, just to be different!

Party favours could be little bags of plastic farm animal sets, tied up with red rick-rack and a little gold bell.

Maybe cut out black squiggly "cow spots" and lay them out to play Musical chairs?

And in alternative to Sweet!'s cake idea, have cupcakes with green coconut on them (grass)and paper stand up cows on toothpicks. Ben and Jerry's has little papercrafts including Silo and little cows or a bigger "action toy cow" (http://www.benjerry.com.sg/papercrafts/)

Helping with a cow- and ice-cream themed party for my nephew, so I've given this some thought :)

We're ordering bamboo spoons from Garnish and stamping the word "moo" on them. Still trying to find a good price on the canisters that "moo" when you turn them over.

My first thought was the Cow Parade. I grew up in Houston so this is where I remember them from but there are other locations. http://cowparade.phanfare.com/2477853_2694955#imageID=40328036
This gives the opportunity to take the cow out of the pasture and make it anything you want. THe kids could think of ways to dress up their own cows.
Otherwise, I like the idea of the "Happy cows" Milk commercial concept...Divert from cow theme and have fileds of daisies and grass with cute cows as accents!

I actually remember going to a cow party as a child. All I really cared about at that party was that I got to milk a life-sized, homemade brown cow that produced chocolate milk. I remember that the udder was a plastic glove. Not sure how healthy that is...

Good luck! Some great ideas from the other commenters. :)

How about playing pin the bell on the cow instead of pin the tail on the donkey? You could also play milk bottle bowling or sit empty bottles (use frappacino bottles) painted with cow spots on a fence and let kids try knocking them off with a rubber ball. You could also make a cow with horns with cardboard and use hoola hoops to try to ring the horn! That's all I have for game ideas. -Karen

What about using Skinny Cow ice cream as inspiration! The brand is super sassy and fun! You could get the ice cream sandwhiches and roll them in rainbow sprinkles: www.skinnycow.com

I love this blog!I like how a simple idea could turn a party into an awesome work of art!I also recommend using standees that are great for picture taking. I got mine here: http://www.almostbreathing.com/

They really looked real and my daughter really loved the Winnie the pooh standee that I made for her. It cost me way less than what I have budgeted it for.

To you or to me? Well, you get the point. Picnic and boating, a walk in the night city with the launch of balls, a cooking workshop in a cooking studio, a pajama party at home or home gatherings. One of my friends decided to celebrate her 30th birthday in Georgia (invitations were sent out almost a year ago (!). Much will depend on the general theme (and sometimes the scene will dictate the topic). Don’t drag out with this matter, because you’ll be sitting at a cookie cooking workshop in the restaurant’s large hall, and around you will be scurrying about nasty kids and begging for the balloons that you presented to you. For me is the best desicion is to make a party at home with a lot of icy cocktails with help of ice machine as here https://icemakershub.com/best-undercounter-ice-machines/
