cake toppers

We've all been swooning over that cake topper Sharnel used for her daughter's birthday. At $60 a pop, they are definitely for a special occasion, but can be such a beautiful addition to any celebration. Made by Etsy's Lollipop Workshop...so many amazing creations to choose from, right here

It's my husband's birthday today, and I must admit that I did not do anything picture-worthy for it. I learned looong ago (we've been together for 13 years, married for 6), that most of my thought-out efforts go unappreciated. Too often I've found a handmade card in the trash or spent hours making a cake that he doesn't like (even if he pretends to). So I make sure we do what HE wants on his birthday, which now involves hiring a babysitter, going out to a movie and a nice little dinner (plus 'letting' him go on a 4-day annual golf trip later in the summer). It's actually nice not to feel like I have the pressure of creating something to show him how much I love him. And it works for both of us.

I think most of us are in the same boat! It is so nice to not feel the pressure though. My husband's bday is in a few weeks and we are doing the exact same thing. I even sent him a yellow cake recipe I was thinking of making him and he said "just make the box kind. it's the best." =)

I agree with the comment above. My husband is the same way. After making him a "tie" banner for Father's Day and having him say nothing about it, even though it was hanging practically in front of his face.....It was my aha moment, never again will I waste that much time on a gift for him. But I also bought him baseball tickets for the field box for the Oakland A's.
Thanks for posting about these toppers!! I'm thinking about ordering one for my sons 2nd birthday.

It was my husband's birthday this weekend as well, and I feel exactly the same way. He asks for the same chocolate bundt cake every year (which is just a cake mix with a few additions). I've tried to change things up over the years, but really, that cake just makes him happy!

My husband is the exact same. Doesn't care one bit about antyhing hand made or well thought out.

True. We do for others what we'd want them to do for us. When we should do for other what they want. Thanks for the reminder!
