egg dyeing

Yes, I know I'm putting all the great Easter inspiration up after the holiday- but there's always next year, right? Loving these eggs from Vim and Verve.

easter brunch

I've got a serious crush on this Easter brunch via Elizabeth Anne Designs. Love the pan/cupcake presentation, the easter 'baskets', and all the sweet details.

eggs!

We kicked off Easter week with some egg dyeing...lots of fun, but really messy. And the results were not exactly what I had envisioned, but I still love the colors. I tried using letter stickers to create a stencil on the eggs- not totally successful, but I'm not that surprised since we winged it. What are you doing for Easter this week?

FOUND! The golden egg.

For those of you who have followed Party Perfect for awhile, you might remember the fruitless search for my beloved 'golden egg' last year. Well- after much searching done by both my mom and I, we are so happy to proclaim we have found(!) the closest thing to the original. I am so, so excited about this source... going through their site was a trip down memory lane. Who knew that they still made those awesome panorama Easter eggs? I remember gettting giddy about them as a little girl. I am definitely bookmarking Blumchen... for Easters to come.

purple bunny, please

What do you do when your almost 9 year-old requests a 'purple bunny' party? You give it to her, of course. Lucky for Ella, her mom is super creative Aussie Tania McCartney. While most of us might seemed stumped for ideas with this thematic request, Tania took the idea and ran with it. This is only a smidge of the party...see much more right here.

gen says...(a late easter post)

From Gen:

"Easter- a little late.

Okay, so I am slightly behind. It is May, and I am just now sorting through Easter photos. I had great intentions of doing a fabulous Easter post...sharing all of our little family projects: making easter treats for all the little ones, a darling tower of Easter cupcakes (made with my favorite new 'picnic table' plaid wrappers), children's Easter egg dying, etcetera- but unfortunately the day was rushed as usual, and we barely made it out the door on time- thus, no pictures.

So instead, I share a (very late) snapshot of the children's Easter baskets and morning festivities in hopes that it might be early inspiration for next year.

A few tips for next Easter:
-Walmart is not the most lovely shopping experience- however, I must rave about their adorable Easter grass in the perfect shade of pink and fabulous Easter candy packaging!

-Michael's is always at the top of my list for any craft project. For Easter, Oden picked out fabulous pink gingham boxes (50 cents on clearance!) to make little treats for all of his buddies. Lucy put them together and labeled them on Easter morning- with my favorite Martha Stewart labels.

-We tend to go a bit overboard on holidays with the children- but, I love to give them little wrapped treats along with Easter candy in their baskets. To save money, I usually hunt down bargains the month prior to the holiday and save them for the big event. This year, I bought Oden a pink gingham tie from Pears and Bears and Lucy the cutest kelly green dotted swiss sundress from Old Navy- both of them were on major sale!

-The 'vessels' for the Easter baskets are both from Target. For Oden, I used a red metal ice bucket and for Lucy a pink organizing bin- both reusable for storage in their rooms later!

So, now I can officially check 'Easter' off my to-do list! Next year, I tell myself I will start earlier. How does Martha do it all?"

searching for...the golden egg

Whenever my mother put on an Easter egg hunt for me and my brother back in the day- the real competition was not who could find the most eggs, but who could find the Golden Egg. The Golden Egg was 5 times the size of any of the normal eggs, which meant it held 5 times as much candy, and sometimes a little moula, too. The Golden Egg was always tucked into someplace super sneaky. To find it, meant you ruled the day with lots of bragging rights.

Now that I have a child of my own, I am looking back at my family traditions and hoping to recreate them. Unfortunately, in all the moves between then and now, the Golden Egg has gone missing. So I am currently on a hunt for the replacement. Pictured above is the closest I've found, but it still doesn't match my memory of the Golden Egg.

The Golden Egg was a hefty paper-based egg, with gold-y wallpaper-y material on the outside, and lined with a spring-y print reminiscent of a Liberty pattern. It was about 6 or 7 inches long, and maybe 3 or 4 inches deep.

Alas, I can't seem to find anything that really fits the description. Lucky for me, my son is still young enough to have no clue it's Easter- but perhaps next year! My search carries on...
