reader question of the week #2

"I have twin boys that will soon be 1 year old. I want to throw a party for family members to come and celebrate. I am wondering if you have any good ideas for themes or decorations that I can do. So far since the boys have been born I have kept Jensen with the colors green and brown and Brad with blue and brown. Those are the colors I have in their room. I am not sure if I should just decorate the party with those colors, or if there is something else out there that I can do. Thank you! -Kelli"

Theming around their colors sounds like a sweet idea to me. You could bring the two together using this printable party from Parties by Hardie: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=43781539 . It would be easy to get brown accents in via the envelopes, chocolates, etc.

Another option is to choose a theme around a child's book either they love (a simple board book) or one you and/or your husband really like to read to the boys. If you happen to find a book that fits the colors (green, blue and brown), all the better! Congrats! I have twins boys too and I remember someone telling me the first birthday is more of a celebration for the parents that they made it through that first year!

do you read dr. seuss to the boys? you could do a "thing one & thing two" party. I love the color combination of that red & turquoise.

Woodland Party!

I love the colors and think you could play off of nature with them. How about a "birds of a feather flock together" theme? You could use owls or other fun woodland birds to pull the theme and colors through.

Thanks you guys for all the great ideas. I am terrible at making decisions, so when I finally decide and when the party actually happens (in 3 months) i will let you all know what I end up doing.
