birds + branches

I loved birds way before they were 'trendy' and I have a feeling I will continue to love them when they are out of fashion as well. Birds will always remind me of my dear grandmother, who knew the name of every bird imaginable. That's why I'm loving all of the great bird + branch combos I've seen pop up. A couple of favorites above...from top: rebecca thuss, martha stewart, tina rupp, david stark via beachbungalow8, BrooklynREHAB via Creature Comforts.

rebecca's image was also in a Martha Stewart Weddings issue. It's the article/tute I used to make centerpieces for my wedding (I used the cherry blossom branch idea sans birds) which tallied to 375 blossoms being made by hand. Very simple, time consuming, but the effect was beautiful. I got rid of most of the branches I used but kept about 8 or so around and have them in a huge glass vase I got from IKEA and then monogrammed for the cake table.

Lovely inspiration. Particularly like the dramatic effect of the red branch and yellow birds from Tina Rupp! Great blog!

Wow! These branches are a great idea and the birds are the finishing touch. It makes me want to go scrounging in the woods for materials to work with! http://blog.sweetservices.com/sweetscandyblog/

I just found your blog by accident and really enjoyed it. I love the birds as a table centre piece. My company makes Applause Machines that have been used in a similar way at weddings.
Best wishes.
