reader question of the week:

"I am having a Finding Nemo theme for my daughter's 2nd birthday party. It will be at the local pool where they have a Splashpad (shooting water that sprinkles out from the floor and other water features). The colors are going to be blue and orange. Need some other ideas for invitations, decor, food, etc... I'm not going to have any crafts since all the kiddies will probably be preoccupied with playing in the pool area. Also wanted to keep the food easy because it is outside and will mostly rely on coolers to keep the food cold. Thanks! -Phuong"

i dont know if you're doing favors, but clear cello bags with blue jelly beans and a larger orange candy or toy would look cute.

Gold fish crackers in a fish bowl for food idea. They are even the color of nemo. Swedish fish too for the candy bags from the comment above. Fish food could be nerds in a little jar labeled fish food. Oh this is going to be a fun party.

you can do just about any kind of sandwich and use a nemo cookie cutter to cut it out. if feeling real ambitous you can paint the bread with food paint, like the kind you get at cake decor stores. serve with blueberry yogurt in cute cups or plain plastic ones garnished with goldfish. you can make almost any light colored dip blue with food coloring and serve with veges, chips.make blue slime and put in inexpensive gladware containers. add inexpensive sea animals and you have a great favor.hang different color blue streamers from doorways and along walls...so many things!

a fish bowl dessert is great too...

Other ideas...Fish Sandwiches: Use fish-shaped cookie cutter and a variety of fillings to create fun kid-sized sandwiches.
Worms in a Blanket: Purchase hot dogs, refrigerator croissants and cheese. Slice hot dogs lengthwise and cut cheese into strips. Unroll croissants and stuff them with hot dogs and cheese. Roll croissants back up and bake until golden brown.

I hope its fun!!

I agree with all the posts! I would say do really big lettering of "splish and splash" if you have places you can hang them.

Another 2 year old and Nemo! My son just loves him. Our party is March 20. My invites are at:
http://midcenturyhousewife.blogspot.com/2010/03/preview-hanks-birthday-party.html

I am doing goldfish crackers in fish bowls (both cheddar and pretzel) along with other light snacks (fruit, veggies). I think sandwiches are a great idea!

We are also doing a "pin the fin" on the Nemo game and ballon boat racing in a kiddie pool.

I downloaded the Nemo font and made a banner (so cute with the little fishies for the spaces in the letters).

Would love to get in on some Nemo planning with others in the same boat! Would also be happy to send along decorations that are mailable after this weekend.
