well, that sucks...

Um- did you guys know that there is a helium shortage? Seriously- the world could deplete its helium reserves in as little as eight years? Zut alors! I might just have to make this the year of the balloon- as if it's a species on the brink of extinction. The immediate effect of this shortage (on parties) will mean higher prices for balloons. Crazy!

found out about it (plus check out these cool 'balloons')...here

I knew about this, I was ordering balloons for my sons birthday party and they told me I could only have 12 because there was a shortage! I first I didn't believe them! (on a side note, the next time I went in I was able to order almost 40 balloons with no problem...)
PS: I LOVE your blog!

i wanted one of the 36" ones for my sons birthday......who knew i couldn't buy him any actual presents because of it!! it cost me almost $20!!! too bad. balloons are the quintessential birthday party decoration in my opinion......especially for the little ones.

Helium shortage? When I hear that sort of thing I get teary eyed. Not totally sure why. Is helium renewable? (I should have paid more attention in my chemistry classes.)

i heard about this on NPR last year and they also mentioned that the Macys Day parade people have "dibs" on most of the helium that is left.

ahhh!

Helium balloons really do make a difference at a party. There are loads available out there. I bought some great child ballons for my boys 5th birthday from Party Supplies.
