gen says... (a post by genifer goodman sohr)

from gen:

"I was so excited when my great friend Sara invited me to guest post for the Party. I just adore her style and of course, her blog!

I was going to begin my first post by sharing ideas for my son Oden's upcoming 3rd birthday party. Of course, I don't make anything easy for myself...no pre-packaged birthday in-a-bag for me! Plus, Oden and I have had so much fun with all of the party-planning- coming up with the idea, shopping for 'stuff', and making it all come together. I'm still finessing the details, and can't wait to share them with you in my next post.

As I have been pulling it all together- I realized the funny thing about throwing a party is that the location is such a huge part of how the concept comes together (at least for me!). For Oden's birthday bash we decided to have it at our house. We just completed a big renovation and finally have pictures on the walls, so it seemed like the perfect location to celebrate Oden's big day and a great way to have our family and friends over to enjoy our new home. We designed the house with entertaining in mind, and can't wait to 'break it in.' I'm just giving you an tiny sneak peak since it will be featured in an upcoming issue of my favorite design magazine.

As you can see, I'm obsessed with the bright tomato red you see on the front door and throughout the house. This color actually serves as the inspiration for Oden's party and lucky for me...happens to be the same great red as Oden's party inspiration- Lightning McQueen! I hope you enjoy. I can't wait to share Oden's party with you next time."
